    *  NOTE: this review had to be moved to its correct place.  Note that the Fallsview Buffet is at the Sheraton Hotel while the Grand Buffet is at the Fallsview Hotel and Casino *

    Symmetrical buffets

"Left" bookend:  The Grand Buffet at Fallsview Hotel and Casino, Niagara Falls, ON, Canada

I've eaten here twice.  Looking at the interesting and beautiful tower that is the Fallsview Hotel and Casino, one instinctively knows there's a buffet (or boofay, as a real Yelp friend calls them) inside that complex.  I may talk about buffets a lot, but I may go to one about once or twice a month.  They may taste good but I know they're not good for you.  The amount of caloric intake could easily hit 8,000 to 10,000 calories.

With the Players Card, which only requires that you are a living, breathing creature with an official ID of sorts, $ 5 CDN is knocked off the buffet and the cost is about $ 29 CDN.  The personnel at the customer service desk for the Players Card are very pleasant in that restrained Canadian way. That $ 29 CDN also needs to be diluted and is thus a lower amount in U.S. dollars.  Also, a soft drink or coffee/tea were indeed included and those work for me.

The Grand Buffet makes for an incredible experience.  The dining area is placed at the rear of the casino floor from the grand entry, facing both the American and Canadian Falls through floor to ceiling windows.  This means that (1) you will need to walk through the large casino (keep walking, say I), and (2) assertive individuals will ask to be seated right at the windows.  However, many tables are close enough to the windows such that you can get a good view.

For this amount of money, I can't believe some people are complaining about the food.  I thought it ranged from good to very good.  There is a long salad bar with the typical choices of salads, fruits and vegetables, and dressings.  Then, there are themed stations and a carvery.  True to Canada's historical and more recent influences, the main stations are for Canadian, Italian/Mediterranean, and Asian food.  There is also another island for desserts, many of which are behind glass in tall glass cases.  You can help yourself or the employees will help you.  You may need the employees to identify the desserts for you so you do a better job of picking some out.

I obviously recall a more recent visit to the Grand Buffet better than I do a less recent visit.  The service was commendable on both occasions and, on the more recent one, I had fun comparing notes with my server whose parents came to Canada from another country.  Yes, he was a foreigner, but then I tend to gravitate toward them.  He was very efficient at keeping my drinks filled and at removing dishes when I went to the buffet line.

In summation, the numbers go like this.  For the entrees, side dishes, and soups, I'd say the Grand Buffet easily comes in at 4 stars.  Then, even though they look enticing, the desserts were, in reality, a little less so.  That might pull the experience closer to 3 stars.  However, considering the view, the friendly service, the value, and the overall experience, the buffet venue climbs right back up to 4 stars.  The Grand Buffet is something to experience once each and every time one is on the more genteel side of Niagara Falls, meaning over in Canada.

Would give this place *3.5 stars. I have went to this buffet quite a few times now with my family whenever we visit the Falls. I know the food quality isn't the best, but the price, variety, and location makes it a good option in the area. It is around $25 with PAC card for lunch buffet, which includes non-alcoholic drinks as well. There are a wide variety of selections including Asian, Italian, Indian, Canadian, and lots of desserts. I personally like the seafood section, which includes pan seared salmon, mussels, scallops, and seafood rice. There's also many comfort foods such as pasta, pizza, mac&cheese, and mashed potatoes, so this satisfies carb-loving souls like myself. The red velvet cake, tiramisu, and lemon meringue pie are also one of the better tasting desserts. The sushi and chinese food is not authentic, but that is expected. The roast beef is a bit dry as well. Other than that, the food is actually decent and not terrible for the price.

There's always a large line for the buffet, but it moves pretty quickly. I would recommend requesting for windows seats. The staff will probably say it is a much longer wait, but it usually only takes an extra 15-20 minutes and is well worth the wait especially if you traveled from afar.

Went here for lunch on our first day in town. Prices were very reasonable for a casino buffet, the wait staff was very attentive and nice. The food was pretty tasty and provided a decent amount of variety broke up into sections for Canadian Comfort food, Asian, Italian, etc.

The dessert bar is also extensive, almost more choices on there than the actual food themselves. Non-alcoholic drinks are included in the price as well as refills, so if you're looking for something that is budget-friendly while providing a variety of choices and a great view, stop on in.

Meh, I guess it's a good value for the price, but I've had way better Casino Buffets. Short and sweet....
The Good: Variety of ethnic foods and seafood. Lots of Asian and Indian cuisine, non veg and veg.
The Bad: Crowded and a long wait time in line to be seated. Carving station had dry meat, lacked seasoning with a lot of foods. We too the first available table because there was a wait, so no falls view.
We went all out on dessert because the meal was 100%, but they were prettier than they taste.

This buffet is located at Falls View Casino resort building and is worth going to for the view.
If you get a window seat, you can actually look outside to the Falls when you dine.

This is quite a big buffet, so there always seems to be a line. The line moves pretty fast, but during weekends you may have to wait 20-30 minutes to be seated.
If you have a PAC card, you also get a $8 discount and complimentary parking on your card, so take advantage of it!

The food is okay. They have different country cuisines available including Canadian, Indian, Italian, etc. Being a buffet, I don't think they take much time to make each dish flavorful, but it's also not terrible either.

It's not a place I would come regularly just to eat, but it may be a good place to bring visitors to so they can enjoy the scenery as well as the buffet.
